Sanger Eye Clinic found its humble beginnings in 1959 when Frederick J. Sanger opened up shop. A consummate and decorated professional, Frederick was a recognized authority in his field. Among numerous positions he held, Frederick was on staff at Toronto Western Hospital as a Contact Lens Consultant, served as the Secretary of the Contact Lens Certification Curriculum for the province of Ontario and served as president and founder of the Ontario Contact Lens Association. Additionally, Frederick also participated in the research of corneal implants at the Banting Institute for a number of years. Lastly but perhaps most importantly, Frederick’s passion for eye care was reflected by the 15 years he spent lecturing throughout North America.
Continuing the Legacy of Contact Lenses Innovation & Scholarship
Having fit more than 100,000 patients for contacts since opening Sanger Eye Clinic in 1959, the Sanger family is a true pioneer in the contact lens field. Perhaps most impressively, more than a quarter of those patients required contact lenses to aid with complex optical and/or pathological problems, which is a specialty at Sanger Eye Clinic. Its valued patients are assured they’re receiving the ultimate level of professionalism, expertise, service and quality, as the clinic manufactures its own RPG contact lenses to the specific standards set by the North American Standards Associations. Additionally, the clinic prides itself in remaining dedicated to education in the contact lens field in Canada, as its team writes articles for ophthalmic journals, lecture and set courses further enhance continuous education in the field.
